Sydney debt collection agency, Est. 1993

Debt collection that doesn't cost you the customer.

Every week the account sits there is another week a debtor can keep ordering. Capricorn Credit has recovered overdue accounts for Australian businesses since 1993, working on commission only when the money actually comes back. Most trading relationships survive the process.

The weekly decision

The account is overdue. The orders haven't stopped.

Every time you pull that report, it's the same choice. Keep supplying the venue and watch the debt grow, or cut them off and lose the account for good.

Nobody else in the business has to make that call. It sits with you, and every week you don't decide, the number gets bigger and the decision gets harder.

There's a third option. Firm, polite recovery, handled by someone who isn't your sales team, so the debt gets paid and the account often stays open.

Debt collection

Your overdue accounts get action the same day they're lodged, starting with a formal demand and followed by phone contact. Firm and polite, focused on getting you paid while keeping your customer relationships intact. The lodgement process is simple and easy to start.

Legal recovery & enforcement

If required, legal proceedings are done in house and only referred to a solicitor if it is disputed. The team already know it, so there's no new firm to brief, no extra charge for legal expertise.

Credit management advice

The cheapest debt to collect is the one that never goes bad. We review your terms of trade and credit processes so fewer accounts end up overdue in the first place.

Debt collection, legal recovery, and advice to stop it happening again.

WHY CAPRICORN CREDIT?

We're owned by solicitors.

Capricorn Credit was originally established to serve the liquor industry, owned by two practising solicitors, ensuring in-house, specialist legal expertise.

Capricorn Credit, a Sydney debt collection agency established in 1993, negotiates payment first and keeps creditors informed throughout. Legal proceedings are only pursued with the creditor's approval. Your trading relationship stays in your hands, not ours.

Most agencies hand a stalled account to an outside law firm and start again. Here, if needed, the file moves to litigation without a handover, briefed by the people who've worked it from day one.

Nothing in step five happens without your approval. Most accounts never get there.

01

Your account is reviewed the day it arrives.

02

A formal demand goes out by post and email, usually within hours.

03

Phone follow-up begins during the payment period.

04

Payment is negotiated in full or by instalment plan and monitored.

05

If the account won't resolve, legal options are discussed with you before anything is filed.

Who we work with

Industries we know from the inside.

Capricorn Credit was established in 1993 specifically to recover debts for the liquor industry, and thirty years later liquor and hospitality remain the core of our work. We collect for wholesalers and distributors from venues of every size, small bars to large chains, and for hospitals and healthcare organisations that need recovery handled carefully and documented properly.

Beyond that, there's no real limit to who we collect for: funeral homes, law firms, florists, landscapers, and plenty of businesses with nothing in common except an overdue account. Every credit manager knows the choice between cutting off a slow-paying account and watching the debt grow. There's a third option: a firm, polite recovery process handled by someone who isn't your sales team, so the debt gets paid and the trading relationship usually survives.

No HAVING TO RE-EXPLAIN YOURSELF

The same person, start to finish.

Our senior collections team has 55 years of debt collection experience between them, with an average tenure of ten years. When you lodge an account, one person handles it from first demand to final payment, like an extension of your own accounts team.

What it costs

How much does debt collection cost?

Capricorn Credit works on commission, charged only on money actually recovered. If we collect nothing, you pay no commission. The rate and any fixed costs are agreed with you before the account is lodged, so there are no surprises later.

And no debt is too small or too large.

Everything to gain

No collection, no commission

Rate agreed before your account is lodged

No debt too small or too large

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

  • No. Payment is negotiated first, and creditors are kept informed throughout. Legal proceedings are only pursued with the creditor's approval. Your trading relationship stays in your hands.

  • Usually not, and protecting that relationship shapes how we collect. Contact is firm and polite, arrangements are negotiated rather than demanded, and most debtors on payment plans keep trading with our clients. You're removing yourself from the awkward conversation, not ending the relationship.

  • Most Australian agencies, including Capricorn Credit, charge commission only on money recovered. If nothing is collected, no commission is payable. Rates are agreed before an account is lodged.

  • A formal demand is issued the day your account is lodged, and many accounts resolve within the payment period that follows. Accounts needing negotiation or instalment plans take longer, and you're kept updated throughout.

  • Once an account passes 60 to 90 days overdue and your reminders have failed, recovery prospects start falling with every month that passes. Earlier referral means better results.

  • Yes. Capricorn Credit is owned by practising solicitors, so legal proceedings, judgment, and enforcement are handled without referring your file to an outside firm. Legal action only proceeds with your approval.

  • Often, yes. With commission charged only on what's recovered, referring a small debt costs little if it fails and recovers money you'd otherwise have written off if it succeeds.

The account isn't getting younger.

Recovery gets harder the longer an account sits unpaid. Send it through today and it's reviewed before the day is out.

Nothing happens with your customer until you say so and there'se no commission owed if nothing is recovered.
